    Ripley's Game, Starring John Malkovich, Arrives On DVD March 30 From New Line Home Entertainment

    Los Angeles, CA (January 5, 2004) New Line Home Entertainment today announced the March 30th release of Ripley\'s Game, starring John Malkovich, for the first time on DVD for $26.98 and on VHS for $22.99. An official selection of the 2002 Venice Film Festival, this continuation of the story of Tom Ripley (upon which The Talented Mr. Ripley was based), looks at the Ripley character as an older and wiser man living a seemingly happy life with his wife and his wealth in Italy...but all that is about to change.

    The third book in Patricia Highsmith\'s Ripley series, Ripley\'s Game is set in present day Italy where art connoisseur, harpsichord aficionado, master of soufflés and genius of improvisational murder, Tom Ripley (Malkovich) finds his complacency shaken when he is scorned at a local party. While any ordinary sociopath might repay the insult with some mild act of retribution, the game Ripley has in mind is far subtler, and infinitely more sinister.

    Ripley decides to involve his bitter neighbor – cancer-stricken family man Jonathan Trevanny (Dougray Scott, Mission: Impossible II, Ever After) - in a murderous game to entertain himself and a slimy former associate (Ray Winstone, Cold Mountain, Sexy Beast). He manipulates Jonathan into acting as a cold-blooded assassin who wipes out members of the Russian mafia. Realizing that the ill-equipped father and husband is in over his head, Ripley, out of sheer boredom and a strange sense of obligation, ends up helping his pawn so that his game can have the ending he desires.

    The DVD features a widescreen version of the film with Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound, DTS Surround Sound and Stereo Surround Sound. Also included are English and Spanish subtitles, closed captions, animated menus and the original theatrical trailer.
